One day in your life, your path could be crossed with someone you've never ever met before, they don't know anything about you or your past or your background. But they see you by who you are at that time, and it interest them. They didn't know what made you who you are now, but that doesn't matter, no? As long as they would like to be go through anything life has in the box with you.
They say the future's mystery and the past's history while the present's gift. But sometimes it makes you also wonder how the people you are with now, was in the past. Luckily we are now in the era of social media where everything's as easy as browsing someone's name in Google. I, too, used to do that. I mean, that's how you are when you care for someone, no? Wanting to know every detail of their life.
I met my current boyfriend when I was doing exchange in Japan. It was my first time going to Japan, and my first time interacting with Japanese. I did not know much about him, except that he was nice, smart, and more importantly respect me for who I am. We've been going out for quite some time now, mostly long-distance. One thing that kinda surprises me is that being in a relationship with him sometimes kinda doesn't feel like it. I don't know whether it's just ours or most Japanese relationships are like that. I don't really mind with it though, because that means I could concentrate with other life aspects like family, career, friends, etc.
Life's box of chocolate indeed. I don't think February's 21-year-old me would believe it if being told that the February's 25-year-old me would find herself in Minato Mirai, Yokohama and would have an enjoyable date with her Japanese boyfriend. After all, February 21-year-old me would still be devastated with her recent break-up. Wish I could tell myself life would be better someday and indeed you could smile again.
| Thank God I met you |
